The Jungle carpet python was the first subspecies of the Morelia Spilota complex to truly captivate my imagination. The amazing assortment of yellows and golds on silky black that embodies a fine Jungle is a spectacular python to behold.

The patterns on Jungles are highly variable even within clutchmates. Hatchling out a clutch of Jungles is, in Forrest Gump’s words, like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get. Hatchling Jungles are coloured grey or brown on black and slowly morph into their adult colours often peaking at around 2 to 3 years of age. I have found it almost impossible to judge for colour at the hatchling stage, some morph into brilliant yellows and golds, while some are not as brilliant which adds to the excitement of owning, keeping and breeding Jungles.

Jungles are an easy python to keep and breed. These stunning Morelia are destined to be a crowd favourite for a long time yet.
