DARWIN CARPET PYTHON

Morelia Spilota Variegata

The Darwin Carpet Python (also known as the Northwestern Carpet Python) is a medium to large sized Morelia often attaining to 7 foot in captivity.

Hatchlings start off a reddish-brown colour and morph into adult colours of brown with touches of fawn and cream and orange.

Darwin Carpets are an extremely easy python to look after and flourish in captivity with minimal care.

ALBINO DARWIN CARPET PYTHON

Amelanistic Morelia Spilota Variegata

Albino snakes are a relatively new phenomenon within Australia. The first recorded instance of albinism in a carpet python was a Darwin Carpet Python found near Darwin in about 1995. After the find, the Albino was moved to the Territory Wildlife Park for a number of years before being moved to South Australia where a breeding program commenced and the first albino hatchlings were made available to the general public in 2004.

In my own collection, I have noticed three variations within the Albino Darwins.

The first one I refer to as Classic Albino, which is yellow on white.

The second is High Yellow, which is yellow with a thin white border on lemon.

And the third being High White, which is pale lemon on white.

I predict that within the next few years, the Albino Darwin Carpet Python will be the most sought after captive bred colour mutation of Australia Herpetoculture. Please view my gallery and available stock pages to view my Albino collection.
